Night 8 of the 2024 Premier League Darts took place last night in Dublin, with most of the players wearing special green-tinted shirts in the Irish capital.
The colours of the Irish flag are of course, green - white - orange and many players had chosen to incorporate one or more of these colours into their shirts. Both Nathan Aspinall and Rob Cross, who faced each other in the quarter-finals did so.
Wayne Mardle, himself a former Premier League Darts participant and now a commentator for Sky Sports, couldn't resist a joke. "If you're watching darts for the first time, first off, why? But Nathan Aspinall is the man in the black and green shirt with the black trousers and the black trainers," Mardle explained. "I hope that clears it up for you. And Rob Cross has got no hair. So there you go, there's the difference."
Mardle had made fans watching at home laugh with his comments. Someone took to social media and wrote while laughing, "Wayne Mardle didn't need to do Rob Cross like that." Someone else replied, "Mardle is such a hilarious muppet, absolutely love him!"
Aspinall won the clash of green and black 6-5, but then went down 6-4 in the semifinals against eventual winner Luke Humphries.
