Robert Owen continues dream PDC World Darts Championship run and retains Tour Card in final third round tie

Robert Owen has continued his dream PDC World Darts Championship run reaching the Last 16 where he will face off against another unseeded player Callan Rydz in the process.

He has also retained his Tour Card in the process in dismissing the fans favourite and 'Stack Attack' who nearly didn't qualify at all for the tournament. Now he has completed the feat of retaining his spot on the PDC Tour with a best run yet at the showpiece event.

Evans fired in a superb 126 checkout to start the tie pinning the bull to win the first set in just over six minutes 3-1 in a quickfire start with the two rapid fire stars. But the Welshman produced his best leg of the match which kick started his run in the tie. He hit a 14-darter in the deciding leg to draw level 1-1.

Evans took out 92 for a 14-darter in the deciding leg of the third set to go back in front to make it 2-1 in sets. Owen hit back immediately hitting his fifth 180 and double 10 for 2-2 to edge the fourth set in a decider and restore parity at 2-2.

It was back-to-back sets for Owen as he came back from 2-1 down with Evans hitting a 74 checkout to lead. Owen hit back with an 82 checkout as Evans left double four to draw level but didn't get a chance.

Again Evans left 80 and Owen hit double 20 for a 16-darter to secure the set 3-2. This saw Owen ascend from there as he swept the next set 3-0. He pinned double 20 for 1-0. He broke on double 18 before sealing the win and Owen hit double four to claim the victory. An incredible run continues and in an open section could continue to sprout more wins.
