After getting thrashed by Josh Rock at the Austrian Darts Open,
Michael van Gerwen dished out some revenge to reach the final of the
Belgian Darts Open in Wieze on Sunday evening.
Van Gerwen is into a second
European Tour final of the season after a 7-3 win over Rock with a 103 average despite five maximums from the Northern Irishman.
But throughout the contest, it was the prowess of the two treble visits from MVG that saw him dominant throwing nine 140s.
A break at 3-2 and an 80 checkout to do so again at 6-3 proved the difference for Van Gerwen who produced his most clinical display of the weekend so far and will now face another player who has beat him to nil in the past on the European Tour.
That being the top seed this weekend,
Luke Humphries saw off Van Gerwen's compatriot, Dirk van Duijvenbode to reach the final.
Albeit it wasn't as comprehensive as Van Gerwen with Van Duijvenbode missing a match dart before Humphries dug deep to prevail in a deciding leg.
This being with an 81 checkout and Humphries is into his third European Tour final of the season meaning that with both having barren spells in terms of titles so far, a new name will be added to this year's Roll of Honour.
