Rodriguez, Lukeman, Schindler and Razma set for World Matchplay debut

The field for this year's World Matchplay has four debutants. Madars Razma, Martin Schindler, Martin Lukeman and Rowby-John Rodriguez qualified for the first time for the tournament in Blackpool.

All four qualified through the Pro Tour Ranking, of which the sixteen best players received an invitation to the World Matchplay. For this Pro Tour Order of Merit all results from 12 July 2021 till 11 July 2022 on the Euro Tour and Players Championship tournaments count, provided they were in possession of a Tour Card at that moment.

Especially the performance of Rodriguez is impressive as a result. The Austrian recaptured his PDC Tour Card in January and had to start from scratch from that moment on. Rodriguez had almost seven months to earn enough prize money.

Rodriguez is set to face Jonny Clayton in the draw for the World Matchplay. The three other debutants could also have done better. Razma plays Peter Wright, while Schindler takes on Gerwyn Price. Lukeman meets James Wade in the first round.
