Rodriguez sweeps aside Aspinall, Razma punishes doubling disaster from Cross

There will be a first-time European Tour finalist this evening at the 2022 European Darts Matchplay with Rowby-John Rodriguez and Madars Razma into their first semi-finals in Trier.

Rodriguez has been knocking on the door for some time producing some of the best and most consistent darts of his career so far in these tournaments and will get his opportunity after brushing aside Nathan Aspinall.

It was a 6-2 win for 'Little John' with the Austrian ace averaging 92 and hitting a high checkout of 118 as he denies Aspinall a shot at another title this season.

Next up will not be a player who has been reaching finals for fun and hasn't yet picked up a title on the European Tour (well the last part is true) as Rob Cross has lost out as Razma continues to break new ground.

It is a first ever European Tour semi-final for the Latvian who punished 18 missed darts at double to deny Cross in a 6-4 victory.

The other two Quarter-Finals see Stephen Bunting face Damon Heta and Luke Humphries take on Ian White with only the latter two previous winners on the European Tour so the likelihood is a new winner could be crowned.
