Ross Smith has completed the last 16 lineup in Munich at the 2025 German Darts Grand Prix, on an evening that also saw the likes of Michael van Gerwen, Luke Littler, Gerwyn Price and home crowd hero Martin Schindler secures themselves a spot in the next round among others.
Jermaine Wattimena came out firing in the final game of the evening, taking the opening three legs of the contest in impressive style. As the Dutchman just dropped his level slightly however, Ross Smith upped his and before he knew it, was all square again at 3-3. With Wattimena missing numerous darts at double in leg 7, Smith made it 4-3. Moments later, 'Smudger' made it five legs on the spin, before Wattimena kept himself alive with a hold of throw. Victory though was Smith's, 6-4.

The performance of the evening undoubtedly came from the world champion Littler. The 18-year-old world number two had been unleashed in Munich, taking just 10 minutes or so to dispatch a helpless Cam Crabtree and ease through to the last 16.
After a pair of 12 darters to open the match, Littler then reeled off three straight 14 darters to stretch into a 5-0 lead and threaten the Euro Tour record average. Credit to Crabtree though, he took a rare chance in the 6th leg to get on the board, but there was no incredible comeback as the world champion secured victory with a 15-darter in leg 7.

As mentioned, Michael van Gerwen is also through to the last 16. For 'MvG' however, things were a hell of a lot closer. The Dutchman was really made to work for his win over Kim Huybrechts in Munich. With the match going all the way to an 11th and deciding leg, the three-time world champion can actually can himself rather lucky having survived missed matchdarts before he finally finished off his Belgian opponent with a quality 13-darter to move through.
