Ryan Joyce averages 100.22 in impressive dismantling of Alex Spellman at the World Darts Championship

Ryan Joyce has powered into round 2 at the World Darts Championship with an extremely impressive performance, averaging just over 100 in a 3-1 win over Alex Spellman.

Although both players started off very strongly, it was the American, Spellman who raced his way through the first set. Although he benefitted from a couple of Joyce misses along the way, Spellman took the opening set to nil averaging over a ton in the process.

Joyce though, wasn't done by any means. Taking out a stunning 128 to open up the second set, Joyce then missed double 16 for what would have been a roof-raiser in the following leg. He did go 2-0 in the set though and despite a Spellman fightback it was the Englishman who took the set and equalled the match.

Joyce opened set 3 with another ton-plus checkout, this time a 102 to break the throw. Spellman hit back in leg 2 though with a break of his own but the set would go to Joyce as the Englishman moved a set in front.

'Relentless' continued to press home his advantage at the start of set 3 with a 14-dart hold of throw. Two three-treble visits from Joyce in the following leg helped him take another leg with his average now over 101. Completing the win on double 8, Joyce sealed a very impressive performance.
