Callan Rydz is into the final session of action at the 2024
Swiss Darts Trophy in Basel putting beside his disappointment in Budapest a few weeks ago. He saw off Cameron Menzies who has also been in epic form as of late.
Rydz saw off Menzies 6-5 in the deciding leg to make the final session. He took out 79 in the deciding leg to make only his second
European Tour Quarter-Final.
It was even in the opening exchanges with both players breaking but going back and forth to make it 2-2. Menzies hit an 81 checkout to lead 3-2. But Rydz hit back with a combination shot of his own with a 79 to make it 3-3. Rydz and Menzies shared legs for 4-4. Rydz was sent all the way and it was another hold to seal the deal for 'The Riot' as he sealed a superb win.
James Wade is also through to the final session as he picked apart Wessel Nijman missing chances at doubles throughout the contest in Basel. It was a 6-4 win for Wade in a typical Wade display of averaging less and hitting 46% on the outer ring.
Nijman took an early lead holding on double eight. While missed darts at doubles saw Wade level up at 1-1. He broke for 2-1 with Nijman again struggling on the outer ring. But Nijman came straight back and started to reach the ascendancy.
He led at 4-3 but missed 161 for a 5-3 lead and a break and Wade picked his pocket for a 61 checkout to make it 4-4. Nijman missed three more as Wade again found his way to lead. He sealed the win from there with Nijman not even on a finish to hit back.
