The first round concludes at the European Championship with another earlier than usual start and eight more tungsten tussles to look forward to in Dortmund on Friday evening.

Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price, Peter Wright and Jonny Clayton all play in a row to begin tomorrow evening with MVG looking to add yet another major title to his collection again after winning the Premier League, World Matchplay and World Grand Prix.

Only Joe Cullen and Danny Noppert as well as Damon Heta and Simon Whitlock's World Cup pairing and Peter Wright's World Championship win at the turn of the year have stopped the Dutchman's dominance but MVG has not won on ITV for a while which will likely be a point of questioning on commentary.

He faces a familiar foe in Chris Dobey who has never beaten the Green Machine but will look to stop that run and further his own darting ambitions.

While Price is likely in the tie of the night as he faces Rowby-John Rodriguez who made the final of a European Tour earlier in the season but personal problems meant that he missed events and didn't kick on but a regular in the latter stages of European Tour events this season, he will look to take the scalp of 'The Iceman' who always looks good this time of year.

As does Wright who faces Ryan Meikle in what can be dubbed as a Suffolk derby with 'Snakebite' living in Mendham against 'The Barber' Ryan Meikle.

Losing the Gibraltar Darts Trophy final after his World Grand Prix disappointment, 'Snakebite' has shown World Champion credentials at times this season but will Meikle send those crashing down. Gabriel Clemens faces Clayton to end the evening's action.

While starting off is another episode of the St Helens rivalry between Dave Chisnall, one of the most in-form players in world darts at the moment against Stephen Bunting. Dimitri van den Bergh has not been at his best since health issues on the European Tour and will look to alleviate fears of a slump when he faces Daryl Gurney.

Following that are two ties that could steal the show ahead of the heavy hitters as Joe Cullen faces Ross Smith and Jose de Sousa takes on Martin Schindler.
