Ryan Searle played a superb tie against Martin Lukeman surviving a match dart in a thrilling tie at the European Championship.
Searle discussed his year to date and that certain blows to his confidence have been hard to take in regards to losing in majors since reaching a final at the Players Championship Finals.
"It was one of those games it felt like how my last few weeks have been going. He wasn't missing anything and I was thinking just miss and give me a chance. With the way things have been going, it's easy to slip back into that negative mindset and I was thinking stay positive you're playing well, I don't know what the averages were but I think it was a decent game. But yeah to nick it at the end there, I'm over the moon. That means a lot to me that win," said Searle to Online Darts.
"Honestly I felt like I was going to win the World Grand Prix, I didn't think there was anyone else that's turned up played pathetic, it was just one of those games. I've struggled from there on maybe for a bit of confidence. The Matchplay was hard to take when I played well against Dirk and he averaged 111 for the last eight legs, it's hard to take those sort of performances when you know you're playing well yourself."
Another factor he admits has been the travelling which he has been open with that it has 'killed' him and that he will pick and choose next season if possible.
"The year so far, the travelling on the Euro Tours has killed me. I've not enjoyed the travelling. I've made that clear to the people close to me. If I'm lucky enough to be seeded for next year, I'll pick and choose which ones I go to. I feel like I'm playing on the practice board the best I've ever played so I feel like if I can bring that to the stage then I can win one of these tournaments. I think it would be ironic that I've played so bad on the Euro Tour all season then have a good run here."
