Premier League Darts action shifts its focus to Birmingham on Thursday evening with the eighth week of darting drama set.
This week, the ties were set based on league position solely so Michael van Gerwen who currently tops the table will face James Wade who sits bottom.
This means Peter Wright and Jonny Clayton who are second and third are on the opposite side of the draw and will face Gary Anderson who is seventh place and Michael Smith who is currently sixth.
In the other tie, Joe Cullen who is fourth will face Gerwyn Price with the victor of that tie facing either Van Gerwen or Wade.
New format
The eight participants play a tournament sixteen times. It will be arranged so that a player meets the other participants twice in the quarter-finals. During two weeks of play, in the eighth and sixteenth week, the draw is determined by league standings heading into each night.
Points can be scored with results in the sixteen tournaments. A semi-final earns two points, a second place three points and a tournament win five points and a £10,000 bonus. Based on these points the new Premier League Darts ranking is formed. The four best players advance to the Premier League Darts play-offs.
