Dubbed as 'Seedaggedon', the opening night of the
Dutch Darts Masters saw the home heroes find their way mostly into the Quarter-Finals at the expense of the invited PDC names.
The final day takes place on Saturday with the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final spread over one session and barring if
Dimitri van den Bergh wins, a new World Series champion for this season will again be crowned.
It was only Van den Bergh who won the Nordic Darts Masters and
James Wade out of the PDC eight which also included top seed Michael Smith, Michael van Gerwen, Peter Wright, Gerwyn Price who found their way through.
For Wade, he faces Maik Kuivenhoven who breezed past an out of sorts Fallon Sherrock 6-1 after himself coming through against Jeffrey de Zwaan. While for Dimitri van den Bergh, it is Jermaine Wattimena who produced one of the top displays of the opening night to topple Jonny Clayton who will look to seal another scalp.
While the other two Quarter-Finals feature likely two of the favorites for a home soil title in UK Open champion,
Danny Noppert who dumped out Michael van Gerwen as well as
Dirk van Duijvenbode, his World Cup partner who saw off Peter Wright.
Awaiting them are
Vincent van der Voort and Martijn Kleermaker - themselves hoping for glory in Amsterdam. An intriguing conclusion awaits.
