The stage is set to conclude this year's Players Championship Finals with multiple stories to unpack in Minehead on Sunday evening with the semi-finals and final.
In the first semi-final, it sees two players who are looking for their first major titles of the season, Jonny Clayton in particular who came into this season with fanfare after his multiple major triumphs hasn't delivered on that barring topping the Premier League table and winning multiple nights.
While Cross always seems to pop up with one of these majors towards the back end of the year and maybe this is the one for 'Voltage' on the stage where he emerged at the UK Open.
Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen albeit not in Minehead played in that tournament back in the behind closed doors era at the semi-final stage and it was 'Cool Hand Luke' who made a maiden major final back in 2021. As well as thrashing Van Gerwen at the German Darts Grand Prix and recently beating an under-par Mighty Mike at the Grand Slam of Darts.
After Danny Noppert who himself has a good record against MVG couldn't do it, it will likely have to be Humphries that stops MVG winning a seventh title in this tournament and extending his record breaking run or is it Humphries time to shine and win his first major?
Also there is the matter of the World Youth Championship final between Josh Rock, the heralded new darting talent and Nathan Girvan who just missed out on the riches of the Development Tour top two but got a reward in the form of a World Youth final which could yet see him head to Ally Pally.
Remember if Rock wins, there will be an extra spot on offer tomorrow at the PDPA Qualifier so it is all important and will be played between the semi's and final tonight.
