The AO Arena in Manchester plays host to the latest leg of Premier League Darts action on Thursday evening with two clashes in particular catching the eye.
Michael van Gerwen is the leader of the league. In Manchester he will play Jonny Clayton, who is number two in the standings. Van Gerwen or Clayton will meet the winner of the match between Michael Smith and Joe Cullen in the last four.
Also rivals and the worlds top two Gerwyn Price and Peter Wright face each other once more on Thursday night. The remaining quarter-final is between Gary Anderson and James Wade.
New format
The eight participants play a tournament sixteen times. It will be arranged so that a player meets the other participants twice in the quarter-finals. During two weeks of play, in the eighth and sixteenth week, the draw is determined by league standings heading into each night.
Points can be scored with results in the sixteen tournaments. A semi-final earns two points, a second place three points and a tournament win five points and a £10,000 bonus. Based on these points the new Premier League Darts ranking is formed. The four best players advance to the Premier League Darts play-offs.
