At the Czech Darts Open we have now reached the quarter-finals. At the last tournament of the European Tour 2024 no less than three Dutchmen and two Belgians made it to the last eight. During the final session the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will be played.
The Czech Darts Open is on the program for the fourth time. The very first edition in 2019 had a surprising winner. Jamie Hughes then took the title by dealing with Stephen Bunting in the final. After the two corona years, the event returned to the Euro Tour calendar in 2022. Luke Humphries then captured the title after defeating Rob Cross in the final. In 2023, the first spot was for Peter Wright, who walked away with the title at the expense of Dave Chisnall.
We start the final night with a meeting between Niels Zonneveld and Jonny Clayton. Zonneveld defeated Robert Owen (6-2), Dave Chisnall (6-2) and Ricardo Pietreczko (6-5) to reach the last eight of a Euro Tour tournament for the first time in his career. In that respect, Clayton has a lot more experience. 'The Ferret' already won two Euro Tours and made it to the finals twice on the Euro Tour this year.
Kim Huybrechts is taking full advantage of his fill-in at the Czech Darts Open. 'The Hurricane' had not actually qualified for this tournament, but was called up as a substitute after a late cancellation by Rob Cross. After two wins, the Belgian is suddenly in the quarterfinals, and is sure to participate in the World Darts Championship. That could include an EC participation if Huybrechts wins this tournament. If so, he must first pass Wattimena, who recorded an impressive win over Chris Dobey on Saturday with 107 average and was too strong for Raymond van Barneveld in the third round on Sunday afternoon.
The cracker of the quarterfinals is the clash between Michael van Gerwen and Luke Littler. 'The Nuke' is currently the best player in the tournament. Littler threw an average of 110 on Saturday, and even bettered that average with a 116 in his third-round match against Damon Heta. Van Gerwen recorded victories over Krzysztof Ratajski and Alan Soutar. It will be the 12th time this season that Van Gerwen and Littler have met. The balance is currently 6-5 in favor of the Dutchman.
A week after the sensational World Grand Prix final between Mike de Decker and Luke Humphries, the two players face each other again. This time the stake is a spot in the semifinals of the Czech Darts Open. Both showed excellent form Sunday afternoon. De Decker won with an average of 104 against Martin Schindler (6-2), while Humphries triumphed with 106 average against Gian van Veen (6-2).

TV and live stream

The Czech Darts Open will be broadcast on Viaplay and PDC TV. As usual with Euro Tour tournaments, this event consists of three tournament days. The afternoon sessions start daily at 12 p.m., while the evening sessions start at 6 p.m.
The first round will take place on Friday. The 16 Order of Merit qualifiers and the winners from the various qualifying tournaments then make their appearance. The top-16 seeded players enter the tournament on Saturday in the second round. Sunday will see the denouement of the tournament, starting with the third round in the afternoon session. Sunday evening will be followed by the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.

Distribution of prize money

At this Euro Tour tournament, a total of £175,000 in prize money will be divided among the 48 participants. They will receive at least 1250 pounds in starting money. The top-16 seeded players who enter the Czech Darts Open from the second round will receive 2,500 pounds anyway.
They do - like the 16 Order of Merit qualifiers starting in the first round - have to win their first match in order for the prize money to count toward the world rankings and the other rankings. The winner of the Czech Darts Open will ultimately go home with the top prize of 30,000 pounds.
