At the German Darts Grand Prix, sixteen men are still in the fight for the overall victory. Monday afternoon the third round will be completed.
It is the seventh time the German Darts Grand Prix has been held. Van Gerwen won the first edition in Mannheim in 2017. A year later, the tournament moved to Munich, where Van Gerwen would also take the title in 2018 and 2019. Due to the corona pandemic, the event did not take place in 2020 and 2021. Upon returning to the calendar, Humphries captured the title in 2022. Michael Smith ran away with the title in 2023, before Humphries took the title for a second time in 2024.

The afternoon session at the Kulturhalle Zenith in Munich will be kicked off by Gerwyn Price and Josh Rock. Both men showed good form earlier this year and both also have high scoring power. Rock was too strong for Scott Williams in the previous round, Price on the other hand beat Raymond van Barneveld 6-3. If both men reach their best level this could be one of the best match of the afternoon session.
Afterwards, Rob Cross and Krzysztof Ratajski enter the arena. Cross, who is struggling to reach his best level in Premier League Darts and is in penultimate place, is not having the best year of his career for now, but in the second round he did seal the fate of home favorite Ricardo Pietreczko. Ratajski was too strong for Michael Smith after a particularly mediocre match, 6-4. Both Cross and Ratajski will hunt for the third career title on the European Tour.
Afterwards, Niels Zonneveld, who has been doing extremely well lately in floor tournaments, defeated tenth seed James Wade in the previous round. For a place in the quarterfinals he now faces Ryan Joyce. It may not be easy though, as Joyce wiped the floor with Damon Heta (6-0) in the previous round. It remains to be seen whether he can show the same level against Zonneveld.

Michael van Gerwen then follows. Mighty Mike', who has yet to win a title this year, survived match darts in the previous round against Kim Huybrechts, but did win. Van Gerwen averaged a 100+ average in that match, so he will be looking forward to the match against Ryan Searle with confidence. Heavy Metal beat Cameron Menzies 6-2 in the previous round and hopes to capture his second ranking title of 2025 this weekend, after winning a Players Championship. Both men normally know how to find the triples, so this promises to be a great match.
The next match is between Dave Chisnall and Ross Smith. Chizzy' won two European Tour tournaments last year, this year he is still waiting for his first title. If he wants to achieve that, he will have to beat Ross Smith, who beat Jermaine Wattimena 6-4 in the previous round.
In the sixth match of the afternoon session Gian van Veen who last round was too strong for Andrew Gilding, meets home favorite Martin Schindler. The Wall' is the only German still in contention and won 6-1 against Jonny Clayton in the previous round.
The penultimate match is between Peter Wright and Madars Razma. Wright played a particularly solid match against Mike De Decker in the previous round, winning 6-3. So for a place in the quarterfinals, he has to get past Razma, who himself won 6-2 over Danny Noppert in the second round.
Concluding the afternoon session, of course, we have Luke Littler. 'The Nuke', too strong for Cam Crabtree in the previous round 6-1, takes on Joe Cullen. 'The Rockstar' was 6-2 too strong for Mickey Mansell in the second round, but will have to seriously raise his level to stand any chance against Littler.

TV Guide

The tournament will be broadcast by PDC TV. As usual with Euro Tour tournaments, the German Darts Grand Prix consists of three tournament days. The afternoon sessions start daily at 12 p.m., while the evening sessions start at 6 p.m.
The first round will take place on Saturday. The 16 Pro Tour players are then paired with one of the 16 players who managed to get through the various qualifying tournaments. The top-16 seeded players enter the tournament on Sunday in the second round. The denouement of the tournament follows on Monday, with the third round first in the afternoon session. Monday night the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will follow.

Distribution of prize money

All participants starting from the first round are guaranteed £1250 in prize money, while the top-16 enter from the second round and receive £2,500 anyway. This amount eventually rises to the grand prize of £30,000 for the winner.
An important detail is that players who are automatically seeded via the Order of Merit and lose their first match will not be awarded prize money on the various rankings. This does apply to qualifiers who are later designated as seeded by the withdrawal of others.
