It's make or break Monday night for the darters in Groups A through D at the 2024 Grand Slam of Darts. The players in these pools will play their third group match on Monday.

In two groups, little arithmetic needs to be done. In Group A, Michael Mansell is already certain of a spot in the second round, while defending champion Luke Humphries has already been surprisingly eliminated. Mansell may try to secure the group win, while Humphries will hope to end the tournament on a positive note. James Wade and Rowby-John Rodriguez will decide between themselves who will advance to the knockout stage along with Mansell.

In Group D, the curtain has already fallen for Dave Chisnall, who still has to face Ritchie Edhouse. The fresh EC winner is already sure of a place in the next round. Depending on the result of the duel between Ross Smith and Connor Scutt a small defeat might be enough for Edhouse to secure the first spot in this pool. Smith and Scutt will meet in a straight fight. The winner of that duel will continue, the loser will be eliminated together with Chisnall.

Danny Noppert leads the standings in Group B, but is far from certain of a place in the last sixteen. The Freeze meets Martin Schindler in his last group match. Schindler lost to Cameron Menzies, but did win from Beau Greaves. The latter was also defeated by Noppert, while the Dutchman also took the points against Menzies. What is certain is that Noppert is through to the knockout stage when winning four legs. If Menzies wins by two legs difference from Greaves, the Scot will also continue in the tournament anyway.

In Group C, all of them still have a theoretical chance for a spot in the last sixteen, although Peter Wright's chances have shrunk tremendously after his second defeat. The Scot started his tournament with a 5-0 defeat against Martin Lukeman, and then also lost 5-4 to Leonard Gates. Only a 5-0 victory over Rob Cross can save 'Snakebite'. Wright will have to hope Gates does not win against Lukeman. The Englishman only needs two legs to reach the knockout stage. Cross and Wright will play after Lukeman and Gates have met. Cross is through anyway if he manages to match Gates' result against Wright, with the only exception being a 5-0 defeat.

How can you watch the Grand Slam of Darts on TV?

Sky Sports show the tournament in full in the UK. As usual, the tournament begins with a group stage with eight groups of four players each. The group stage takes place from Saturday through Tuesday, with all players playing three times.

The top two players from each group will advance to the knockout phase. Starting Wednesday, Nov. 13, the knockout phase will begin with the first matches of the final sixteen. This round will be completed on Thursday, Nov. 14. The quarterfinals will be played on Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 16, before the semifinals and finals are finished on Sunday, Nov. 17.

How much prize money is up for grabs?

The event has been part of the PDC calendar since 2007. Back then, the prize pool already included £300,000, with £80,000 going to the winner. The prize pool was thrown up a few times in the following years, and in 2019 more than half a million prize money was distributed at the Grand Slam of Darts for the first time. Since the 2022 edition, the prize pool includes £650,000.

Every participant in the Grand Slam of Darts is guaranteed £5,000, which is the prize money you will be paid if you finish last in your pool. This amount can eventually go up to a sum of 150,000 pounds for the winner of the tournament. The players who win their pools in the group stage receive a bonus of 3,500 pounds. The Grand Slam has been a ranking tournament since 2015, so the prize money won counts toward the PDC Order of Merit.
