We will begin Saturday afternoon with the second round of the
Czech Darts Open in Prague which sees the main seeded names come into the foray.
The Czech Darts Open is on the schedule for the fourth time. The very first edition in 2019 had a surprising winner. Jamie Hughes then took the title by dealing with Stephen Bunting in the final. After the two corona years, the event returned to the Euro Tour calendar in 2022. Luke Humphries then captured the title after defeating Rob Cross in the final. In 2023, the first spot was for Peter Wright, who walked away with the title at the expense of Dave Chisnall.
Chris Dobey will face off against Jermaine Wattimena after the Dutchman saw off Patrik Kovacs. Later in the afternoon sees the return of World Grand Prix champion Mike de Decker facing Danny Noppert. Noppert had a bye in the first round, while De Decker won easily 6-1 over Brett Claydon.
Kim Huybrechts will play his first match of the season on the Euro Tour on Saturday afternoon. 'The Hurricane' had not qualified through the qualifying tournament for the Euro Tour this season, but was now added to the event as a reserve player. Moreover, because Huybrechts was added after the draw was completed, he also took over the position of the absent Rob Cross. As a result, Huybrechts also gained very important pounds with an eye on qualifying for the World Championship. With a win over Luke Woodhouse, the Belgian can definitely secure a return to Alexandra Palace.
The afternoon session will open with a meeting between Ricardo Pietreczko and Martin Lukeman, before Damon Heta and Gabriel Clemens face off. Pavel Drtil is the only Czech still in the tournament. Drtil stunted Friday afternoon with a win over Joe Cullen and now faces former World Youth Champion Josh Rock.
Ross Smith also begins his participation in the Czech Darts Open. He will meet Alan Soutar, who was too strong for Alan Soutar in the first round 6-2. The afternoon session concludes with a meeting between Michael Smith and Ryan Searle. Smith was responsible for the elimination of Kevin Doets on Friday night.
Saturday night the remaining eight matches from the second round of the Czech Darts Open will be played. Among others, Michael van Gerwen, Raymond van Barneveld, Luke Littler and Luke Humphries will then make their first appearance.
TV and live stream
The Czech Darts Open will be broadcast on
PDC TV. As usual with Euro Tour tournaments, this event consists of three tournament days. The afternoon sessions start daily at 1 p.m., while the evening sessions start at 7 p.m.
The first round will take place on Friday. The 16 Order of Merit qualifiers and the winners from the various qualifying tournaments then make their appearance. The top-16 seeded players enter the tournament on Saturday in the second round. Sunday will see the denouement of the tournament, starting with the third round in the afternoon session. Sunday evening will be followed by the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.
Distribution of prize money
At this Euro Tour tournament, a total of £175,000 in prize money will be divided among the 48 participants. They will receive at least 1250 pounds in starting money. The top-16 seeded players who enter the Czech Darts Open from the second round will receive 2,500 pounds anyway.
They do - like the 16 Order of Merit qualifiers starting in the first round - have to win their first match in order for the prize money to count toward the world rankings and the other rankings. The winner of the Czech Darts Open will ultimately go home with the top prize of 30,000 pounds.
