The world's best darts players descended on Munich over the Easter weekend where the German Darts Grand Prix is traditionally on the program. It is the sixth time this Euro Tour tournament is being played.
In 2017, the tournament was still played in Mannheim, but then moved to its current location in Munich. Michael van Gerwen won the first three editions of this Euro Tour tournament, but in the last two years Luke Humphries and Michael Smith respectively won the German Darts Grand Prix.
Kevin Doets has the honor of opening the tournament. He takes on Ryan Joyce, after which Brendan Dolan and Alan Soutar face each other in the second match.
Jermaine Wattimena faces off with Franz Roetzsch, one of the Host Nation Qualifiers at this tournament. The fourth match is between Cameron Menzies and Mike de Decker.
For Jeffrey de Zwaan, a duel against Matthias Ehlers is scheduled. The winner of that match will take on Michael van Gerwen in the second round. Richard Veenstra meets Oliver Mueller in his opening match.
Niels Zonneveld will take on Luke Woodhouse on Saturday afternoon, who may fill in at this tournament due to an injury to Gary Anderson. The final match of the afternoon will be between Chris Dobey and Viktor Tingstrom.
