Chris Dobey dazzles in victory at the German Darts Grand Prix with Luke Woodhouse and Richard Veenstra also among winners

The first session of the 2024 German Darts Grand Prix in Munich is in the book and the last three players of the afternoon to secure positions in the next have been Richard Veenstra, Luke Woodhouse and Chris Dobey.

For the third time in the afternoon, a local German challenger took on a Dutchman as Oliver Meuller faced off against Veenstra. Despite Meuller battling hard and giving the crowd plenty of reasons to get behind him, Veenstra's experience was telling and as the nerves seemed to get to the German towards the end, it was Veenstra who booked himself a date with Josh Rock in the next round via a 6-3 victory.

Next up, Luke Woodhouse faced off against Niels Zonneveld. In a match that went the distance, it was the Englishman who prevailed 6-5, sealing the deal in the deciding leg with a ruthless 70 finish to complete a 15-darter.

In the final match of the session, delayed due to the travel problems of Viktor Tingstrom, Chris Dobey ensured the Swede wouldn't be sticking around in Munich for too long. Getting on top early, Dobey even pinned the lesser-spotted double 17 in leg 6 and a 170 finish in leg 7. Winning the last four legs, Dobey took a 6-2 victory averaging over 103.
