It's Easter this weekend and that traditionally means the European Tour is visiting Munich for the German Darts Grand Prix. For years, this tournament has been the regular fixture for PDC darters over the Easter weekend.
It is the seventh time the German Darts Grand Prix has been held. Van Gerwen won the first edition in Mannheim in 2017. A year later, the tournament moved to Munich, where Van Gerwen would also take the title in 2018 and 2019. Due to the corona pandemic, the event did not take place in 2020 and 2021. Upon returning to the calendar, Humphries captured the title in 2022. Michael Smith ran away with the title in 2023, before Humphries took the title for a second time in 2024.

During the first round, 32 of the 48 participants will be in action. The top-16 of the placement list are directly admitted to the second round. During the opening round, the 16 Pro Tour qualifiers and the 16 winners of the various qualifying tournaments will appear on stage at the Kulturhalle Zenith. The first eight matches of the first round will be played Saturday afternoon.
Ryan Joyce v Andras Borbely
For Ryan Joyce, the Euro Tour season is almost here to stay. At the European Darts Trophy in March he managed to reach the final, which was the very first time Joyce got past the third round at a Euro Tour. On the floor, however, his results have been somewhat disappointing, culminating in the last sixteen twice. His Hungarian opponent András Borbély may make his second appearance on the Euro Tour, having already competed once at the Hungarian Darts Trophy in 2022.
Ritchie Edhouse v Mickey Mansell
The 2024 European Championship winner is again racking up his pounds well. At the first three Euro Tours of the season, Ritchie Edhouse managed to win at least one match each time. Recently, 'The Madhouse' also showed form by reaching the quarter-finals at a Players Championship tournament in Leicester. Mickey Mansell delivered the same performance earlier this week in Rosmalen. That was also necessary, as the Northern Irishman had a bad run behind him on the floor. This tournament will also only be his first participation on the Euro Tour in 2025.
Madars Razma v Robert Grundy
Madars Razma wasn’t initially set to feature in this event, but following the withdrawal of Dimitri Van den Bergh, the Latvian was handed a late call-up to the German Darts Grand Prix. It marks Razma’s first Euro Tour appearance of the season, although 'Razmatazz' has already made headlines with a semi-final run on the floor. He opens his campaign against Robert Grundy, who is making his Euro Tour debut. Grundy, now in his second year as a Tour Card holder, is still searching for a breakthrough. The Englishman has yet to reach a quarterfinal in any ranking event, with a solitary last-16 finish at a Players Championship standing as his best showing to date.
Luke Woodhouse v Cam Crabtree
The only all-English clash of the opening round sees Luke Woodhouse face off against Cam Crabtree. For Woodhouse, it’s been a subdued start to the season. ‘The Shed’ has generally avoided early exits, but hasn’t been able to mount any deep runs—unlike last year, when he was frequently a late-stage contender. Crabtree, meanwhile, returns for just his second Euro Tour outing, having debuted earlier this year at the Belgian Darts Open, where he fell in the opening round to Raymond van Barneveld. The winner of this match will meet tournament favourite Luke Littler in round two.
Daryl Gurney v Niels Zonneveld
Niels Zonneveld makes his first Euro Tour appearance of the year in Munich, having enjoyed an impressive campaign on the floor so far. The Dutchman has already reached two quarterfinals and a semi-final on the Players Championship circuit in 2025. By contrast, Daryl Gurney’s form has been underwhelming. ‘Superchin’ is yet to reach a single quarterfinal on the Pro Tour and has suffered five first-round exits. His one highlight came at the Belgian Darts Open, where he reached the last 16. He’ll need to rediscover his best if he’s to match Zonneveld’s current momentum.
Wessel Nijman v Scott Williams
A tantalising first-round tie awaits as Wessel Nijman takes on Scott Williams. This is Nijman’s tenth Euro Tour appearance, and since his debut in 2019, he has reached at least the second round on every occasion except his first. Most recently, he reached the quarterfinals at the International Darts Open. Williams, known for his flair on stage, is making his first Euro Tour appearance of the season. Though he only featured in three events last year, ‘Shaggy’ made it count—advancing to the third round twice. These two last met at the UK Open, where Williams edged a 6–4 victory.
Kim Huybrechts v Finn Behrens
This event offers a vital opportunity for Kim Huybrechts to reignite his season. The Belgian, a former major finalist, had not originally qualified, but benefitted from multiple withdrawals to secure a late place in the draw. He faces Finn Behrens, a debutant on the Euro Tour and one of the Host Nation Qualifiers. While Behrens impressed in qualifying with consistent averages around the 80 mark, Huybrechts will see this as a must-win match to build some much-needed momentum.
Cameron Menzies v Kevin Doets
The final match of the afternoon promises fireworks, as two in-form players collide. Cameron Menzies has made a blistering start to the season, reaching three Players Championship finals and lifting one title. He also reached the quarterfinals of the European Darts Trophy, securing a place in the top ten of the Pro Tour Order of Merit. Kevin Doets, meanwhile, has carried over his excellent World Championship form into 2025, with four quarterfinal appearances on the floor. He also qualified for the European Darts Trophy earlier this year but fell at the first hurdle to Ritchie Edhouse. Both men will be looking to underline their strong starts to the year with a solid run in Munich.

TV Guide

The tournament will be broadcast by PDC TV. As usual with Euro Tour tournaments, the German Darts Grand Prix consists of three tournament days. The afternoon sessions start daily at 12 p.m., while the evening sessions start at 6 p.m.
The first round will take place on Saturday. The 16 Pro Tour players are then paired with one of the 16 players who managed to get through the various qualifying tournaments. The top-16 seeded players enter the tournament on Sunday in the second round. The denouement of the tournament follows on Monday, with the third round first in the afternoon session. Monday night the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will follow.

Distribution of prize money

All participants starting from the first round are guaranteed £1250 in prize money, while the top-16 enter from the second round and receive £2,500 anyway. This amount eventually rises to the grand prize of £30,000 for the winner.
An important detail is that players who are automatically seeded via the Order of Merit and lose their first match will not be awarded prize money on the various rankings. This does apply to qualifiers who are later designated as seeded by the withdrawal of others.
