The darting action continues at the 2021
World Cup of Darts into the second round and with it a double session with singles action now the name of the game to start with.
In this round, it will be played as two best of seven 501 singles matches with both nations nominating the player order. In the event of a tie after this, a pairs match is then played.
It is a quick turnaround for many of the countries from the first round with Northern Ireland set to face off against Portugal in the opening match after both coming through scares on Friday night.
The former survived multiple match darts against Hong Kong winning through 5-4 in the end but will hope to now come into their own with two in-form singles stars in their team in Brendan Dolan and Daryl Gurney.
Facing Jose de Sousa and Jose Marques, they took out Republic of Ireland producing a comeback to do so last night.
Following that, it is England who were under-par against Brazil in their first performance as a pair.
James Wade hadn't played in the tournament for 11 years while Dave Chisnall returned with both due to their rankings top seeds and again like the prior team, they like many would have been earmarking the singles.
They will have South Africa next who took out Spain in a deciding leg thriller. Devon Petersen will aim to be the catalyst for this side, his form has been in question this year due to prior injuries in particular and he will hope now to recapture that magic while taking on the top seeds.
Following that are two ties which have the potential to maybe go all the way to pairs deciders. Australia's Simon Whitlock and Damon Heta will face USA's Danny Lauby Jr and Chuck Puleo.
It was two impressive forays for both in the opening round with a lot left in the tank especially for Heta and Whitlock against Italy and Sweden.
But Lauby Jr in particular has shown himself as a real player to watch and depending on who he is pitted against this afternoon in the order could add an important point to USA's ambitions.
Before an even more intriguing tie, Belgium's Kim Huybrechts and Dimitri van den Bergh face Austria's Mensur Suljovic and Rowby-John Rodriguez.
Two teams that in the pairs openers epitomised the word team with both well versed in each other's play as they took out Greece and Philippines respectively.
There will be more pressure on Belgium due to their love for this tournament and their usual form and Austria will harbour ambitions to head past the Quarter-Finals for the first time this weekend.
