Eight countries are still in the race for the title at the 2025
World Cup of Darts. Sunday afternoon, the four quarter-finals will be played before the denouement takes place in the evening with the semifinals and final, respectively.
All remaining countries will smell their chances from now on, after top favorite England was surprisingly eliminated by Germany in the second round on Saturday. With the Netherlands, Wales and Australia, there are still a number of former winners in the tournament. The format for the quarter-finals has remained the same as the matches from the second round. Still eight legs are needed to reach the next round.
Follow the World Cup of Darts 2025 via our live scores! We begin the afternoon session with a friendly between Northern Ireland and Ireland. It is a rarity for Ireland to make it to the last eight of this nations tournament, as it previously only succeeded in 2019. Back then, the country did manage to advance to the final. William O'Connor and Keane Barry narrowly escaped elimination in the group stage, but made short work of Switzerland (8-3) in the last sixteen. Northern Ireland had a solid start to their tournament on Saturday. Josh Rock and Daryl Gurney skipped the group stage and started their tournament against South Africa. Despite Devon Petersen and Cameron Carolissen throwing a higher average (91.83 to 88.66), the win went comfortably 8-2 to the Northern Irish.
Host nation Germany will take on Australia. Few would have given the Germans a chance against top English duo Luke Humphries and Luke Littler, but Germany won convincingly against the English 8-4. Earlier in the group stage, the German duo had already won without any problems against Portugal (4-2) and Singapore (4-0). In the quarterfinals, they face another former tournament winner, as Australia is the next obstacle. The country of Damon Heta and Simon Whitlock played a strong pool phase with victories over Spain (4-0) and Austria (4-1). The level was considerably lower in the eighth finals, but despite a moyenne of 85.05 per turn, they won 8-1 over Argentina.
After England's elimination, Wales is the new top favorite with the bookmakers. Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton got off to a successful start Saturday night by leaving the Philippines 8-2 defenseless. The numbers of the two darters from Wales were fine an average of 96.43 and a finishing percentage of 38.1 percent. They will now take on Hong Kong, which was responsible for Sweden's elimination with strong play. The two Asians Man Lok Leung and Lok Yin Lee threw an average of 94.16 against Sweden and qualified for the last eight with an 8-4 win.
In the semi-final match it is the turn of the Netherlands, which remarkably has not yet lost a leg this tournament. In the group stage there were resounding 4-0 victories over Italy and Hungary, while in the last sixteen top country Scotland was humiliated 8-0. It was the best match of the tournament so far, as Danny Noppert and Gian van Veen were the first country to average over one hundred (100.20) during this edition of the World Cup of Darts. The Dutch duo will now meet the Czech Republic, which easily handled Malaysia (8-3).

Latest comments- I agree that this season the format was a bit stale, it would be better to have some new faces rotated in through the season.
I also think they should vary the format a bit as it doesn't count for rankings, they could have different varieties of 501 (e.g. double start) or just different challenges.
- I don't really understand why its an issue that Littler doesn't play in the events, they are barely televised so there is no draw for marketing and it gives the other players a better chance to define their narratives.
The events are more of a throw back to old events. I agree that the format should be looked at, I don't know why they don't do a more interesting format or vary it through the season to improve interest
- This shows they have the prize money structure wrong then (and OoM as a result).
Put more £ into the floor, less on the TV and you'll attract more players to attend more often.
- He's admitted his mistakes. He won't be the first or last player to get sent down,or take drugs. I honestly didn't like the lad,but at least he's owning up to his issues. So,good luck. In whatever he decides to do
- Not everyone wants to watch pub players throwing 70 averages for about £500.
Premier League is indeed a cash cow, but it does its job of promoting the game. This new suggestion for changes is one of the better ones. Even better if everyone knew what they had to do to qualify and it isn't just a walk-on popularity contest.
- I have a suggestion, scrap the whole thing. It's a pointless cash cow for anyone in the top 10.
- Well nobody made him bet!! It's his own fault,if wants to lose money, then he shouldn't call Gerwyn out! He averaged 103,I would think the losing betting idiot could average 40! If you don't want to risk losing, keep your money in your pocket!
- A great female line up this year, it would be nice to see Gemma win, but Beau is too good.
Although the most important lady is missing....Lorraine Winstanley!
You can't have a major tournament with out Lorraine Winstanley!!
My dream is to see Lorraine hit a nine darter, run off the stage and out of the building with Dean.
- Laura looking fantastic and obviously has a hidden talent as a dart player.
It was so nice to see her shock and joy of hitting that triple 20
I miss Laura, she was excellent and very knowledgeable regarding darts.
Can you imagine that dozy wooden air head Emma Paton from SKY being able to do that, she'd hold the dart the wrong way round.
