Eight countries are still in the race for the title at the 2025
World Cup of Darts. Sunday afternoon, the four quarter-finals will be played before the denouement takes place in the evening with the semifinals and final, respectively.
All remaining countries will smell their chances from now on, after top favorite England was surprisingly eliminated by Germany in the second round on Saturday. With the Netherlands, Wales and Australia, there are still a number of former winners in the tournament. The format for the quarter-finals has remained the same as the matches from the second round. Still eight legs are needed to reach the next round.
Follow the World Cup of Darts 2025 via our live scores! We begin the afternoon session with a friendly between Northern Ireland and Ireland. It is a rarity for Ireland to make it to the last eight of this nations tournament, as it previously only succeeded in 2019. Back then, the country did manage to advance to the final. William O'Connor and Keane Barry narrowly escaped elimination in the group stage, but made short work of Switzerland (8-3) in the last sixteen. Northern Ireland had a solid start to their tournament on Saturday. Josh Rock and Daryl Gurney skipped the group stage and started their tournament against South Africa. Despite Devon Petersen and Cameron Carolissen throwing a higher average (91.83 to 88.66), the win went comfortably 8-2 to the Northern Irish.
Host nation Germany will take on Australia. Few would have given the Germans a chance against top English duo Luke Humphries and Luke Littler, but Germany won convincingly against the English 8-4. Earlier in the group stage, the German duo had already won without any problems against Portugal (4-2) and Singapore (4-0). In the quarterfinals, they face another former tournament winner, as Australia is the next obstacle. The country of Damon Heta and Simon Whitlock played a strong pool phase with victories over Spain (4-0) and Austria (4-1). The level was considerably lower in the eighth finals, but despite a moyenne of 85.05 per turn, they won 8-1 over Argentina.
After England's elimination, Wales is the new top favorite with the bookmakers. Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton got off to a successful start Saturday night by leaving the Philippines 8-2 defenseless. The numbers of the two darters from Wales were fine an average of 96.43 and a finishing percentage of 38.1 percent. They will now take on Hong Kong, which was responsible for Sweden's elimination with strong play. The two Asians Man Lok Leung and Lok Yin Lee threw an average of 94.16 against Sweden and qualified for the last eight with an 8-4 win.
In the semi-final match it is the turn of the Netherlands, which remarkably has not yet lost a leg this tournament. In the group stage there were resounding 4-0 victories over Italy and Hungary, while in the last sixteen top country Scotland was humiliated 8-0. It was the best match of the tournament so far, as Danny Noppert and Gian van Veen were the first country to average over one hundred (100.20) during this edition of the World Cup of Darts. The Dutch duo will now meet the Czech Republic, which easily handled Malaysia (8-3).

- can you not at least attempt to proof read these recaps? the whitlock scutt one in particular is both inaccurate and mindbogglingly unreadable
- Look, everyone knows he likes to wind up his opponents. Today, his worst, and always will be,best opponent,is himself. I don't dislike the bloke, but he can only blame himself.

- DRA - just a warning please. Obviously not deliberate, in good spirits a s immediate apology.
(P.s. Good on you Joe! Tough season, hope you keep that standard into the next round and beyond)
- This bozo says he can't take darts any further and he's left it in a good place.....no-one cares about this nobody. The PDC was always in a good place before he came along. Does this buffon think the crowd are there for him.
- Yes, a warning indeed. He is coming to the buffet table, out of his way.
This class A goof continues to blither about how he is playing the best darts of his
life and even had the
laughable audacity to say he
was in the best shape of his life.
He had a lucky run at Blackpool and even luckier at
the World Championship and is still living off that. His form
the past year especially the last 6 months completely sucks.
6 micky mouse titles mean
nothing.
- I'm a big Huybretchs fan from when he broke through at the euros in the early days, but his action has gone. So jerky and inconsistent. Looking at where he'll be in the rankings, hopefully he can treat the new year as a new start, relax, enjoy it and push on without the pressure of defending lots of ££
- Greaves could win
Fallon might win
Ashton might get a set
Van Leuven could get a set deciders
Hayter might get to a double
- Congratulations Deta, champion at last. Although I was really hoping Sophie was going to win.
Deta had a tough route to the final and a deserved Champion after soooooo many attempts.
