Schedule Sunday evening session 2021 World Grand Prix including Price, Van den Bergh and Wade

One of the only tournaments in the year with a different format begins on Sunday evening in the form of the World Grand Prix with the likes of Gerwyn Price, Dimitri van den Bergh and James Wade all taking to the oche to begin proceedings.

Different in that it sees the double start format where players must not only finish on a double but start on one as well. This year also sees the tournament take place at the Morningside Arena in Leicester.

Home previously of the Champions League of Darts, it takes over from the Citywest for a year due to the Dublin home being used as a Covid-19 hospital.

Price was the victor last year just down the road in Coventry and is involved in the penultimate game of the opening night against Michael Smith in a real early test for 'The Iceman'.

But starting the night will be Martijn Kleermaker who makes his debut in the tournament against a former finalist in Mervyn King, while it is a Double Dutch feel to begin the night as Dirk van Duijvenbode - last year's finalist faces off against Luke Humphries in a potential high scoring affair.

The opening night also sees multiple former winners with Daryl Gurney, the 2017 champion facing Stephen Bunting, while two time winner James Wade faces Damon Heta.

Also former finalist Dave Chisnall will face Mensur Suljovic, while Joe Cullen willl face Ross Smith in another match that could be a dark horse for match of the opening night.

Finishing proceedings after Price will be former World Matchplay champion, Dimitri van den Bergh who takes on 'Heavy Metal' Ryan Searle.

Starting at 6pm BST, it is best of three sets in the opening round meaning the potential for some shocks in an unforgiving format. Will we see that on the opening night?
