Five spots remain to be awarded for the knockout phase of the Grand Slam of Darts. Tuesday night are the final group matches in groups E-F-G-H. Of the players in these groups, Stowe Buntz, Nathan Aspinall and Michael van Gerwen are already assured of a place in the last sixteen.
These three players will be in action early on Tuesday night. Michael van Gerwen will take on compatriot Martijn Kleermaker, who can only finish third in his group. It may be the last televised match of 'The Dutch Giant' for the time being. He recently announced that he wants to quit his darts career for the time being to spend more time with his family. Should he fail to qualify for the World Darts Championship, this will be his provisional farewell match.
American sensation Stowe Buntz gets the chance to crown himself Group E winner against Dave Chisnall, following his previous wins over Peter Wright and Stephen Bunting. Nathan Aspinall hopes to finish his group stage in style against Ricardo Pietreczko.
After the first three duels, the tension is mounting, starting in Group F. In theory, all four players in this pool can still advance in the tournament. Danny Noppert has the best chance after two group wins. 'The Freeze' needs only four legs against Brendan Dolan to finally advance to the knockout stage.
In the last three matches of the evening, the situation is a lot clearer. In Group E, Peter Wright and Stephen Bunting battle it out in a straight fight for a place in the last 16. So do Rob Cross and Fallon Sherrock in Group G. Finally, we get a superb concluding tie between Damon Heta and Beau Greaves. The winner of this match will also advance to the last sixteen at the Grand Slam of Darts.
