Gian van Veen suffered another third successive defeat in his final group match at the
Grand Slam of Darts.
However, Van Veen did not do badly against
Gerwyn Price. The Dutchman averaged almost 100, but still lost 5-1 to Price, who himself averaged over 112. "In my opinion I did little wrong, but against Gerwyn in this form there was no chance," Van Veen told Viaplay.
Price's average was the ninth highest in the history of the Grand Slam of Darts. "Maybe I didn't want to know that," laughed Van Veen. "I'm an experience richer and I don't really have anything to blame myself for in this last match."
Van Veen can now start preparing for the Players Championship Finals and the World Youth Championship final to be played that same weekend. The 21-year-old Dutchman will take on Englishman Luke Littler in the final of that World Youth Championship.
