Martin Schindler his impressive European Tour form in 2023 with a 6-4 win over Roman Benecky on Saturday afternoon at the Dutch Darts Championship in a nation where he always enjoys spending time.
"The atmosphere was really good and I have to say I really like the Netherlands," Schindler revealed in a post-match interview with Darts Actueel. "A great country. I've never stayed at a bad hotel, great breakfasts."
On the dartboard, the ever-improving Schindler has a daunting tie with Michael van Gerwen next up and if he's going to stand a chance he will need a better performance than the German showed to beat Benecky. "I definitely let him into this game, I missed and missed and missed," Schindler admits. "I made it very difficult."
"I always want to progress, I always want to get better and I think I'm doing good steps," he continues. "Hopefully this weekend in Leeuwarden there's another big step for me again."
