Martin Schindler was eliminated by Michael Smith in the third round of the World Darts Championship after 'The Wall' could not converting a 3-1 lead against 'Bully Boy' into a win.
Nevertheless, the German is fully satisfied with 2022. "Darts was good to me in 2022," Schindler wrote on his Facebook page. He then listed his best performances.
"My first final on the Pro Tour, qualifications for the World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, Players Championship Finals, Grand Slam of Darts and of course the World Darts Championship."
But for Schindler, it was not only the qualifiers for the big tournaments that made him look back to 2022 with satisfaction. "In big matches I managed to make it very difficult for big players like Gerwyn Price, Rob Cross and Michael Smith. For me, that's a huge step forward and hopefully I can continue that trend in 2023.''
The German is off for now. His first tournament is scheduled for 11 February, when the new Players Championship circuit restarts. However, Schindler does not intend to sit still for the next few weeks.
"I am mega satisfied but still hungry for more. I am ready to keep working hard and accelerate for similar or maybe even better successes in 2023,'' Schindler said.
