Schindler on darting mindset during Instagram Q&A: "Ups and downs are part of every sport"

Martin Schindler gave his followers on Instagram the chance to ask him some questions in a Q&A on Sunday. 'The Wall' then chose a few questions to answer.

For example, one fan asked how he deals with mental pressure. I have a mental coach. Especially this year I worked a lot with Markus (the mental coach). There are some mental tricks you can use against pressure and nervousness. Of course experience also helps a lot.''

Another asked Schindler about his attitude in practice. ''I always try to do games with a specific goal in mind. And then on days when things are not going so well, you have to keep going to achieve your daily goal.

Someone else wanted an outlook from Schindler on the upcoming World Championship. ''I would be happy if I could finally win a match at the World Championship. In Ally Pally the results have not been good yet. It would be nice if I could make that step.'

Finally, we were also asked for advice for people who also want to become professional darts. "There are many factors that play a role. As far as the game is concerned, of course you have to practice a lot. Think positive and never give up. Darts is a sport where quick success can be your biggest opponent, so you definitely have to be patient. You always have to expect and plan everything, like what to do if something doesn't work out. You just have to be mentally prepared for such situations.''

''It is important to realise, that the work done will eventually pay off, but it may take time.... The road is bumpy and difficult. Someone who says the road to it is easy has no understanding of darts. Ups and downs are part of every sport.''
