Ryan Searle has finally claimed a win over Danny Noppert to reach the Last 16 at the 2021/22 PDC
World Darts Championship after six previous ties went the way of the Dutchman.
It was a 4-2 win for Searle with a 92 average, seven 180's despite missing 31 darts at doubles throughout the contest but for the third time in four years, he is into the latter stages.
These poor darts at double were evident in the first set as Searle squandered a two-leg lead with nine missed at doubles and Noppert snatched it in the decider.
But Searle recovered well closing out the second set 3-1 despite his double percentage still sitting at 26%.
He pinned an 11-darter and a 90 checkout on bullseye to head into the lead in set three but again he let a lead slip going 2-0 up and allowing Noppert back in.
But after Noppert missed a dart at the bull for the set, Searle took out 72 in a decider to go 2-1 ahead in sets.
It was a dominant reply for Noppert but that proved his only set reply as Searle recovered from two legs down in the next set to snatch it in the decider and make it 3-2.
Before taking out 84 on the bull en route to a 4-2 sets win over the Dutchman.
