Ryan Searle is through to his first PDC major Quarter-Final after a superb victory against Luke Humphries at the 2021
World Grand Prix.
It was an absolute thriller with a 3-1 victory for 'Heavy Metal' hitting five 180's and a 170 checkout en route.
To begin the tie, Humphries failed to get off initially and Searle broke throw. The latter hit a 180 and 125 to leave 110 en route to going 2-0 up.
Errors crept into his game though with the chance to go 3-1 up spurned and Humphries returned for double 14.
A 109 checkout went begging for Searle who missed his fourth chance but he finally wrapped up set one after Humphries couldn't produce off 98.
Searle began the second set superbly with a 140 checkout and followed it up with a 160 and 96 to begin the second leg to surge ahead on Humphries throw.
Before smashing in a 152 to go 2-0 up and he punished Humphries to the hilt after a bounceout, Searle smashed in double 20.
Humphries looked to revive his hopes with a 180 on throw and followed it up with an 86 checkout.
On his throw, it was the first time Searle didn't get away but Humphries couldn't pounce. Double 10 was pinned from 'Heavy Metal' though to level it up.
But it went all the way to a deciding leg and Humphries held his nerve to halve the deficit.
To begin the set though, Searle was superb and after Humphries missed double 16 for a 132 checkout after two bulls, 'Heavy Metal' replied with a 170 checkout for a 2-0 lead.
Humphries hit back with a 112 checkout to make it 2-1. Searle was sat on 44 to win but Humphries made it 2-2 with a 65 checkout.
Humphries spurned a 100 checkout by busting it and it was mistake after mistake with Searle finally getting over the line with a 46 checkout.
