Searle through in commanding victory over nine-dart hero Borland at PDC World Darts Championship

Ryan Searle is through to the third round at the 2021/22 PDC World Darts Championship after a commanding victory over nine-dart hero William Borland.

Searle came through in a 3-0 victory with three 180's and 43% on the doubles with a high checkout of 116 with Danny Noppert or Jason Heaver awaiting after Christmas.

Borland missed six darts for the opening leg and Searle took out 60 for a break. A 50 checkout followed up and Searle broke with a 56 checkout.

An 82 checkout using bull, double 16 saw Searle lead with a hold of throw. Borland stopped the rot with a 62 checkout for parity. But Searle had the darts for a 2-1 lead and held.

Borland missed more darts this time to hold but Searle couldn’t break to claim the set. The Scot set about chasing around the board.

But he was handed another lifeline with three gone at double 10. Borland pinned double two to make it 2-2 and Searle threw for the set which he claimed with a 64 checkout.

He missed double 20 for a 120 checkout and Borland produced a 67 checkout to head into the lead albeit only a hold.

A 116 checkout for Searle saw him hold as he looked to derail Borland. He missed a 64 checkout and Borland survived as he regrouped following messing up the checkout.

A double 16 shot saw Searle go one away from the match and he pinned double four for the match.
