Luke Littler becomes the first two-time @JDCdarts World Champion, defeating Hungary’s Almos Kovacs 5-3 in the final. The 16-year-old went six darts into the perfect leg, checked out 145 and averaged over 100. Some talent 👏
Luke Littler has once again crowned himself winner of the JDC World Darts Championship. With a 5-3 victory over Almos Kovacs, 'The Nuke' retained his world title in the competition for talents under 16.
In what was his last match with the JDC, as Littler celebrates his seventeenth birthday on Jan. 21, Littler finished off in style. In addition, he will also be in possession of a PDC Tour Card next season.
For a moment, Kovacs could hope for a shock against the 16-year-old darts phenomenon as the Hungarian took a 3-1 lead against the defending champion. That forced Littler to step up his game.
First, Littler came back to 3-3 via a 12-darter and a 15-darter. Then "The Nuke" started the seventh leg with two 180 scores, but couldn't advance further than six perfect darts. However, he regained the lead with an 11-darter. Littler then finished it off with a 14-darter.
The game was played at Alexandra Palace prior to the Sunday afternoon session. This way Littler could get used to it before he starts the big game. On Wednesday, Dec. 20, he will play Christian Kist in the first round of the "big" World Darts Championship.
