Simon Whitlock has chalked up another notable milestone in the history of the PDC World Series of Darts in Australia. The Australian is the outright record holder with nineteen appearances at World Series events on home soil. Whitlock has featured almost without interruption since the inaugural edition in 2013 and will be back on stage in 2026 at the Australian Darts Masters.

No other player comes close to Whitlock’s remarkable number of outings. The Australian crowd favourite is not only a mainstay of international darts, but also one of the defining faces of the World Series in his home country. His run began in 2013 and now stretches fourteen years. Whitlock has quite literally become a constant in the event’s history.
Behind Whitlock sits Peter Wright on fourteen appearances. The Scot was a regular between 2014 and 2024 and likewise became a familiar name in Australia. Raymond van Barneveld and Michael van Gerwen both featured thirteen times at Australian World Series events. James Wade is also on thirteen and will return again in 2026.
The list also neatly tracks how the World Series of Darts has evolved over the years. Names like Phil Taylor, Gary Anderson, Adrian Lewis, and Paul Nicholson were frequent travellers to Australia in the early seasons. Taylor competed nine times between 2013 and 2017, while Gary Anderson racked up ten appearances.

Heta following in Whitlock’s footsteps

Among the current generation, Damon Heta stands out. The Australian is already on eleven appearances, making him the most frequent participant after Whitlock who is still competing at the top level. Gerwyn Price has also carved out a firm place in Australia’s World Series story in recent years. The Welshman now has six appearances.

The numbers also show that the Australian World Series has never been a platform reserved solely for established PDC stars. Over the years, numerous Australian and New Zealand players have had the chance to test themselves against the international elite. Names like Kyle Anderson, Haupai Puha, Koha Kokiri, Gordon Mathers, Raymond Smith, and Ben Robb appear multiple times in the roll call.

Significant Dutch presence

The Dutch contingent has also been substantial over the years. Besides Van Barneveld and Van Gerwen, the likes of Michael Smith, Danny Noppert, and Gian van Veen have featured at Australian World Series events. For Van Veen, 2026 marks his first appearance in Australia.

Yet one name still towers above the rest. With nineteen appearances, Simon Whitlock has set a record that underlines his immense importance to Australian darts. As long as “The Wizard” remains active on the international stage, that tally shows no sign of stopping.
