The second round continues at the
German Darts Open with
Ross Smith and
Dave Chisnall moving into the Last 16 and the final day of action in Jena after wins over Danny Noppert and Bradley Brooks respectively.
Smith started his tie against the UK Open champion 4-0 up including a 110 checkout and an 11-darter on double 18 to break throw but Noppert hit back forcing a last leg decider including a 143 checkout as he made it 4-4.
'Smudger' edged ahead once more with an 81 checkout for a 12-darter to hold and go to the brink but Noppert going an unorthodox route of 19, treble 12, double 13 pinned 81 for 5-5 to send it all the way in which Smith pulled out a 13-darter on double 16 with Noppert stranded on 124.
While it was a lot more comfortable for Chisnall as he brushed aside Bradley Brooks 6-2.
It was a professional display from the St Helens ace who produced a 95 average, a highest checkout of 104 and 42.9% on the doubles.
Breaking immediately with a 98 checkout, he surged into a 4-0 lead from there with a 104 checkout before Brooks aimed to show late resolve with a 77 checkout and holding again at 5-2 but they were only consolation as Chisnall sealed the deal on double 20.
