Beaton dumps out Aspinall, Gurney dispatches Van Duijvenbode with superb display

Two more seeded players have fell by the wayside at the German Darts Open in Jena with Nathan Aspinall and Dirk van Duijvenbode out at the second round stage.

Aspinall was facing Steve Beaton who made his big stage return for the first time in a while and it was a 6-4 victory for the Bronzed Adonis defeating 'The Asp' who was a semi-finalist last weekend in Hungary with an 89 average but more importantly 6/12 on the doubles compared to 4/16 from Aspinall.

While Daryl Gurney was the player to send Van Duijvenbode home after a 6-3 win for 'Superchin' in a superb display. Missing opportunities to break in the first, third and fifth leg, Van Duijvenbode was punished in the sixth after two misses at double 16 as Gurney went 4-2 up.

The Dutchman replied but so did Gurney who pinned a 67 checkout at 5-3 up before closing out the game with an 11-darter to back up a display which also included a 164 checkout and three 180's.
