After a hard fought match,
Michael Smith sealed a 10-8 win to keep his hopes alive of
Grand Slam of Darts glory and he was relieved to get through.
"I'm so annoyed with my doubling there. I think this is one of the few matches where I can say my darts pulled me out of the s*** tonight," said Smith post match.
At 8-8, he said what he thought when he had to go to the well and produce a late burst.
"Just went to back to my case, looked at the picture of my kids and thought it's a best of three game now. Managed to get in and it was my darts at 9-8, 57, 57 but he didn't do anything special and he hit the 140, 140 and I went 20, 1, eight to leave 77 and thought you muppet but again double 20 pulled me out."
It keeps up his love affair with this tournament and he believes there is more to come.
"For the last five or six years, I've been in the Quarter-Finals or better. That's what I thought for the last five years you've won this game so put your head down but I'm in the tournament now."
"I don't think I've played well in this event but something is going right because I've won four games on the spin.
Including on the major front but he said it's just a box-ticking exercise and he won't rest on his laurels when it's done.
"As soon as I get one and it will come no doubt but I never look back. If I win this, go into the World's, it's a new tournament. It's a different day."
