Smith produces 107 average in superb Wright win, defending champion Clayton eases past Noppert

The Quarter-Final line-up is confirmed at the World Series of Darts Finals with Michael Smith and Jonny Clayton producing statement displays to conclude the evening's proceedings in Amsterdam.

Smith was facing Peter Wright and produced a whopping 107.4 average with five 180's and 55% on the doubles to end his superb run of form as of late in a 6-4 win over 'Snakebite'.

It was a statement display to start as he broke throw and opened up a 3-1 lead over Wright with a 130 checkout. Wright saved his skin with a 90 checkout on the bull to break back and trail 5-4.

But a 101 checkout after Wright had pressured with a 90 to leave 91 saw Smith seal it with a 15-darter.

The defending champion Clayton also followed with a statement display of his own averaging 104.4 with four 180's and 50% on the doubles as he ended the run of home hero, Danny Noppert in a 6-2 win.

An 81 checkout for a 12-darter on the bull saw Clayton double his lead early on at 2-0 before Noppert returned for a 110 checkout on double 20.

But Clayton replied with a 118 checkout to go 3-1 up before producing an even more special 146 checkout to go 4-1 up. Noppert replied with a 77 checkout at 4-2 to hold but a 12-dart 85 checkout saw Clayton go to the brink and after missed darts at a double to hold, 'The Ferret' sealed it on double 10.
