Alan Soutar has been a real success story from 2021 Q-School with the Scottish ace producing some excellent displays both on the ProTour and also earlier in the year at the UK Open.
He reached the Last 16 there and admitted that he has surprised himself and changed his expectations as a result.
"For me, I was apprehensive about how I could perform but I know I can play at 90+ level most times if I turn up and prepare properly so I think I've now put different targets on what I did have at the start of the year. I've set my sights higher now," said Soutar to Online Darts.
"I hit the ground running straight away, I just didn't want to lose first round everyday because I knew on the ProTour, it was going to be tough with the draw, the way the seeds work so it's changed twice in six months. But now I'm realising that I can live at this level."
World Championship dream
Now his next ambition sits at the Alexandra Palace which he is guaranteed to be at as well as the magical Top 64.
"To sit in January 2022 and think if I made Ally Pally which is almost 100% guaranteed, just to play there and pick up maybe a win maybe two wins would be soomething special but the top 64 is always in my head now."
