Alan Soutar has been one of the standout stars in his opening few weeks as a PDC Tour Card holder with excellent displays both at the Super Series and UK Open.
Soutar defeated the likes of Raymond van Barneveld and Stephen Bunting but came up short against Dave Chisnall despite being in front and speaking to the Inside the WDF podcast following his exit, he summed up the weekend.
"I'm still disappointed. I always look back and analyse games and to look back at being 8-6 and just not performing in the last few legs although Chizzy did play good, I just didn't put up a fight so disappointed but at the same time, it was a good run so can't be too disappointed," said Soutar to the Inside the WDF podcast.
In terms of his fast rise, he is looking up now and wants to be among the darting elite and also has a date at the Alexandra Palace in mind.
"If you told me in December, this is where I would be sitting up to 85th in the rankings. I can't ever be disappointed with that. But obviously I'm the kind of person who doesn't like to lose so 85th is only the start. We want to be in that elite group of players."
"Two goals now. Top 64 after two years, it's a modest target but I want to try and retain my Tour Card. The second target now has to be to try and qualify for Ally Pally at Christmas."
Anderson reunion
A lot was made when he won his Tour Card about turning Gary Anderson down for sponsorship and he revealed what happened when they spoke again at the Super Series.
"His opening line to me was I thought you weren't doing this darts malarkey because I turned him down before. He was a total gentleman. Just gave me a couple of bits of advice as well which he didn't need to. He's class which is why everyone in Scotland loves him."
