The World Series circuit is entering its twelfth season this year. Spotter and statistician Richard Ashdown published some figures on the previous eleven years prior to the season overture in Bahrain.
According to the former master of ceremonies, over the years as many as 177 different players have participated in the 48 regular World Series tournaments in 12 different countries. These participants came from 30 different countries.
Michael van Gerwen is the player with the most titles on the World Series circuit. The Dutchman won 15 of the 48 tournaments. By the way, Van Gerwen has won more tournaments than there are different World Series winners. Fourteen different players managed to win one or more World Series tournaments.
Incidentally, in the previous 11 World Series seasons, a nine-darter was thrown only once. Phil Taylor managed this particular feat at the Sydney Darts Masters in 2015.
