Rod Studd has weighed in on the new PDC Calendar recently released and admitted that better schedule management is needed by the big names.
Studd compared it in an interview with the Darts Show Podcast to Rory McIlroy in golf who only plays a few events barring the majors.
He said it is especially the case for the big names who go to the World Series just before big majors and he said this needs to be looked at.
"This is the time where there are a string of big TV tournaments all building up to the World Championships, which is the one," Studd told the latest episode of
The Darts Show podcast.
"With the calendar for 2020 announced, there are more than 150 days of darts that doesn't include the World Series dates yet.
"I have said for a few years that the really big players are starting to look at things a bit like golfers.
"Players like Michael [van Gerwen] and Rob [Cross] may decide not to play halfway around the world so close to the bigger events, Rory McIlory aims to get it right for when he needs to get it right - The Masters, The Open, US Open and US PGA.”
