Gary Anderson and
Rob Cross are the first two players to secure a spot in the semifinals of the
European Darts Grand Prix. Later this evening, they will face each other in the final four.
Anderson settled with former world youth champion
Josh Rock after an exciting battle. The latter lost a break lead twice. Rock first took a 3-1 lead, but Anderson erased that break in the eighth leg with a 15-darter.
However, the Scot then allowed himself to be broken again. Anderson was not out in five visits, after which Rock threw out 62 for 5-4. The Northern Irishman was then unable to finish it off in the eighth leg, but missed four match darts. Anderson then threw a delightful 122 finish via the bullseye and made it 5-5. 'The Flying Scotsman' then had two matchdarts in the final leg, but could not capitalize. After Rock missed another matchdart, Anderson's fourth matchdart was finally hit.
Cross then managed an impressive win over reigning world champion
Luke Humphries. After the first leg went to Humphries, Cross threw out 86 for the equalizer. Double 10 brought 'Voltage' to 2-1, before he ran out to a 5-2 lead with finishes of 98, 132 and 124. Cross then decided the game with a 62 finish.
