A fan favourite who has moulded into one of the main contenders for the title, Stephen Bunting has reached the Quarter-Finals of the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship and will face Peter Wright on New Years Day.

Bunting took down Luke Woodhouse who has had his best run at a PDC World Darts Championship but was well beaten 4-0 with 'The Bullet' averaging 95, hitting six 180's and 41% on the checkouts with a high checkout percentage of 41%.

It is a fourth PDC World Darts Championship Quarter-Final for Bunting who started the brutally good whitewash with a superb opening salvo. He took out the opening set in three straight legs with a high checkout of 121 to head into the lead.

Woodhouse couldn't lay a glove on Bunting as he surged into a two sets lead winning six legs from seven to quickly double his advantage with two 180's and a 100 average at the time at 2-0 up.

Woodhouse looked brighter as he landed a 150 checkout but despite this, it was a mere consolation as Bunting produced the goods going into a 3-0 lead and one away from the win.

It was missed darts at doubles in what was the final set of the match for Woodhouse that grew to be a frustration as Bunting took the lead with a 19-darter. Woodhouse missed 72 but returned with Bunting unable to rubber stamp that lead.

But after 74 was missed, Bunting hit double 16 for a 2-1 lead and from there he served it out after more missed chances. It will be what if for Woodhouse at times but Bunting was at his brilliant best.

Wright has shown against Humphries that he is still a force to be reckoned with but Bunting no doubt would rather face 'Snakebite' given that unlike 'Cool Hand Luke' he hasn't shown prolonged form. We will soon see on New Years Day.
