Stephen Bunting is into the semi-finals of the PDC World Darts Championship with the fans' favourite finding his way past another in Peter Wright in a 5-2 sets win to begin Wednesday night.
Albeit it could've been even more emphatic. He held off a late fightback from Wright when it looked likely that Bunting would even win with a whitewash. A mini revival though was finally quelled albeit by Wright missing darts to break back and stay in the tie.
'The Bullet' who has captured the imagination of the darting public in the last 18 months will certainly want to perform even better if it is Luke Littler that awaits.

Bunting started the better of the two sealing the opening set 3-1 with a statement start averaging 105.5. He made it 2-0 as he fired in a 130 checkout on the bull to double his lead with Wright averaging only 89.
It was a lot more of a closely ran affair in the next set but Bunting edged the key moments when it mattered the most as he won the deciding leg to go 3-0 up.
It was more emphatic from there as Bunting won the fourth set without reply to move to within one of victory with a high checkout of 143. But a comeback was set from there just as it looked likely that Wright had absolutely no answers for Bunting.
Wright broke on double 10 and consolidated with a 64 effort with Bunting not able to pin 121. 'Snakebite' started on Bunting's throw with the fourth 180 of the match.
Wright pinned 64 for a clean sweep of set five. He missed double four for a hold and Bunting took an immediate break of throw and was throwing to go one away. Bunting missed 70 to go one away and Wright returned for double 16 to make it 1-1. A 58 checkout saw Wright go one away from yet another set. Wright went wild as he slammed in a 133 checkout using two double 19's to make it 4-2 in sets.
Bunting held to begin the seventh set as he looked to finally get over the line. He broke with a 90 checkout to go one away using the bull to start.
Bunting set up double 20 from 145 with Wright needing to hit 150 to stay in the tie but he couldn't find the treble 18 and then drifted into treble five to leave 57. 'The Bullet' missed three clear for the match giving Wright yet another chance. It was one he couldn't seize though and Bunting finally fell over the line in the end on double 10.
