Peter Wright has been dealt an early blow in his
Grand Slam of Darts quest as the CDC Continental Cup champion,
Stowe Buntz laid down a marker on his PDC TV debut on Saturday evening.
Buntz who was dubbed the American Peter Wright pre match produced a display expected of the two-time World Champion thrashing 'Snakebite' 5-1 with a 102 average and two ton plus checkouts.
Now in a group which features Stephen Bunting and Dave Chisnall, the recent European Champion could be in real trouble.

Wright averaged only 81 in the tie and was chasing from the very beginning hitting a score of five as Buntz warmed to the task with an early salvo of 137 using two double 20's showing his showman efforts that CDC viewers will recognise.
Wright finally got on the board at 3-1, but it proved to be his only leg as Buntz hit a 116 checkout to go 4-1 up before sealing the deal on double 18 after initially missing 156 for the match and with Wright way back. In a group that he wasn't fancied to win a game in, the American is proving the doubters wrong with a superb opening win.
While
Luke Humphries last time he was on Sky ended up winning the World Grand Prix and will hope to add a second major title to his collection. He kicked off his quest by seeing off Steve Lennon with relative ease.
It was a flying start from 'Cool Hand Luke' who produced one of the best displays of the opening day with a 100 average and in particular a master class on the doubles.
He won five legs on the spin to confidently win 5-2 including a 147 checkout against Lennon who qualified through the Tour Card Qualifier last week. But it was an opening Group C triumph for Humphries.
