Suljovic eases past Anderson, Ratajski defeats Aspinall in deciding leg thriller

Suljovic wasn't at his best by any means but with Kyle Anderson missing 16 darts at double it allowed him to coast to a 6-1 win.

The missed doubles began in the first leg as Anderson missed seven to hold and as a result Suljovic pounced to make it 1-0. He was at 0/10 by the second leg as the latter sunk double seven to go 2-0 up.

It was finally some quality from 'The Original' as he took out 112 on double 19 to halve the deficit and bring himself back into it. This didn't last long though with Suljovic pouncing whenever he set up doubles and within a blink of an eye he was one away.

'The Gentle' took his chance again to claim the victory and move through to Day Two even though likely by his own admission, he wasn't on form by any means yet.

Ratajski was though as he edged past Nathan Aspinall in a deciding leg with a 104 average to 103 from 'The Asp'.

'The Polish Eagle' was brilliant to begin proceedings with a 174 and an 88 checkout to lead Aspinall 1-0 and despite the latter landing an eleven darter to make it 1-1. Ratajski struck a big blow to go 3-1 up with a break of throw.

At the interval though Aspinall broke back to make it 3-2 and made it parity from there with a third 180 and a 77 checkout. Ratajski continued to hold firm though leading 4-3 but the back and forth continued.

He went one away but Aspinall held throw to send it all the way. An excellent leg from Aspinall saw him on the verge but Ratajski left himself on 70 and he held his nerve to move through.
