Peter Wright got off to a strong start at the
World Grand Prix. In the opening round, 'Snakebite' was a 2-0 winner against Gabriel Clemens.
Wright immediately got off to a good start. "You have to either be on it or you're out and obviously this year the calibre of players in it has got even higher," said the 53-year-old Scot. "As long as I feel comfortable everyone's in trouble."
In the coming months, the majors are piling up, climaxing with the World Championship in December. Wright feels a return to top form is coming but is also keen to fly under the radar. "Let you talk about everyone else, talk about them and I'll sneak round the back," he says with a smile.
Wright never managed to win this tournament before, a final place in 2018 was his best performance. "Before I retire I definitely want to win this tournament. It would be nice if I can do that already this year, but I still have some good years ahead of me."
