Chris Dobey has convincingly qualified for the second round of the World Grand Prix. 'Hollywood' defeated Dimitri Van den Bergh 2-0 in his opening match.
Despite the win, Dobey was not completely satisfied. "I felt pretty confident going into the game but yeah, a solid performance," said the 33-year-old Englishman. "My scoring wasn't there early doors. Dimmi's was much better but the key factor was I got away and I didn't go a visit without getting off which helps."
The "double in, double out" format is also no stranger to Dobey. "We used to play regularly using that format in local competitions. I kind of like it."
Dobey came to Leicester already full of confidence. "Obviously, lost in the quarters last year so I'm hoping to have another big run. Why not? I've worked hard."
Earlier this year, Dobey took his first major title as he won the Masters. "I got that taste of Premier League action at the start of the year and obviously you want to go and get it more often again. If you can't get the experience you need by doing that then I don't know what else you can do."
