Chris Landman could not hold his own against Lok Yin Lee in the first round at the World Darts Championship in London on Thursday afternoon. Landman started the match as the favorite against his unknown opponent from Hong Kong, but lost to his opponent 3-1 in sets after winning the first set.

"The first set went well. Scoring was good, the first dart was good and I threw quite a few 180s. Then it just didn't work out; no triple, no double'', said a disappointed Landman afterwards to NOS.

At one point, the crowd also went massively behind his opponent and his opponent's name was chanted several times. ''That didn't bother me that much,'' he said of that. ''I just wanted to throw nice on that stage for once, whatever I normally do on the floor. It just didn't happen again and that's what annoys me the most. It wasn't far off, but it just didn't go in.''

During the match, 'The Countryman' also showed increasing frustration about the many missed doubles. I tried to stay calm, but at a certain moment something has to go in, a double or whatever. At some point you do get frustrated. You shouldn't do that, but I can't do much about it'', Landman said.
